I'm going to attempt a wireframe for a mobile wallet and payment system that "could" allow crypto-currency to be used at participating merchants- Nightclubs, Car Services, Fashion Boutiques, Restaurants.
This app would allow for user credit card and back account information, loyalty programs, and coupons on the smartphone, while also rewarding users as "Influencers" with crypto-currency/Rewards for interacting and sharing brand marketing on social networks via mobile ads.
Which cryptocurrencies will you accept? All of them? Including Dogecoin? ;-) This sounds like a lot to me—allowing different merchants to add their loyalty programs and coupons and rewarding the user for various social interactions, in addition to encouraging the user to use the phone as a digital wallet. It sounds like the app is for two different types of user, so I'd encourage you to focus on one. I'm very intrigued by the idea though—I'm looking forward to learning all about cryptocurrency!
ReplyDeleteOh on second thought... It likely wouldn't stand a chance on the App Store: http://pocketfullofapps.com/2014/02/06/apple-removes-blockchain.html Would it be an Android app? The other thing to think about is how to make your idea more NYC-specific. Maybe choose a particular venue?
ReplyDeleteNot so sure on the currency yet - Bitcoin is the popular choice. I agree with the two users - I'd have to be hoping that the interface could merge the two into a power user. A venue is a good option - what about transit terminals? Grand Central, Penn Station/MSG, Atlantic Terminal/Barclays, JFK?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure transit terminals make sense for Bitcoin, but I don't know that much about Bitcoin. What is it that folks in New York (be specific—tourists? commuters? college students?) want to buy with Bitcoin rather than using regular $? How would an app on a mobile device facilitate that particular need? I think those questions should help narrow things down a bit!
